Copyediting
Editing on a technical level
Copyediting addresses the mechanical issues in your manuscript.

During a copyedit, I will be correcting spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax errors. I will also make sure that spelling, hyphenation, numerals, fonts, and capitalization are consistent throughout your story.
Editing for Internal Consistency
During a copyedit, I will also make note if there are any internal inconsistencies with your plot, setting, and character traits that may distract or confuse readers.

These discrepancies may include a conflicting descriptions of places or characters. I will also make note if your characters' behavior or dialogue doesn't reflect how they typically would.
Style Guides and References
I use The Chicago Manual of Style as my main reference guide. I also have familiarity with The Associated Press Stylebook (AP) and the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) guides.

To check for misspelled or misused words, I refer to Merriam-Webster dictionaries.
